Governor Deval Patrick has declared a state of emergency ahead of Hurricane Earl’s arrival off the state’s coast. A hurricane warning has been issued for southern Massachusetts from Hull to Buzzards Bay, including Cape Cod and the islands, and beaches in Quincy, Hull, Marshfield and Scituate have been closed to swimmers.
