Resolved Question: Moving to Washington State?

I'm moving to Washington State with friends this August (2011) with some friends. The town I'm moving to will be Oak Harbor, on Whidbey Island. I'm from Quincy, Massachusetts and have never been to Washington. My friends husband is in the Navy, which is why we are relocating there. I'll be visiting for a week in March to check out the area. A few questions I have are; I am a licensed cosmetologist (hair dresser) and am at the beginning of my career. I work at a high end chain hair salon right now as an assistant. What is the job market like in the area/surrounding areas for someone in my industry? Is the cost of living more on the "expensive" side in Washington, as compared to other states? My friends and I are all in our early/mid twenties (I'm 22 and they are 23 and 26), and they both have two kids. What is the area like in terms of things to do for people our age, and for children? Is the health care in Washington decent? I know this is a loaded question, haha. What is the school system like? Any and all info is very much appreciated.
